This may seem like a strange dream, but for a long time I've wanted to take pictures of ducks in a pond that was reflecting autumn leaves. This past October in Wisconsin, I had the opportunity. None of these pictures are quite what I hoped they'd be -- the surface of the water is too ripply, too full of lily pads and duckweed, and the ducks are almost uniformly swimming away from the scary person with the camera. The sun was intermittently hidden behind clouds, and the ducks are generally too dark in comparison to the background. I'm not good enough at Photoshop to fix the ducks without lightening the leaves as well. So these could probably use more work, and I'd like to make them better than they are, but still... ducks! Leaves!
I love beyond belief the tipped-up duck in this photo, and curse the tall grass in the way.
